Mold Testing in Sudbury, MA
Filed under Mold TestingPowerBees was contacted by the owners of a property in Sudbury. The tenants living in this single family home and expressed concern that there was visible mold in their mud room that is off basement, and leaks from a roof above the master bedroom. One of the tenants is pregnant and they have children. Concern was expressed over the air quality and the possible impact on this young family’s health. Otherwise, there were no other reported health issues up to this time. The tenants did requestmold testing be conducted and this was confirmed by the owners. Three non-viable air samples were taken at the property. One air sample was taken in basement, a second air sample was taken from the kitchen and a third air sample was taken outside. The results from both indoor air samples showed extremely high levels of airborne Penicillium / Aspergillus spores in the both the kitchen and basement. The Cladosporium counts were also high in both the basement and the kitchen. The counts in the kitchen are in line with what we might expect to see with even higher counts in the basement – which appears to be the source of the spores. It would appear however, that some of the commonly found outdoors spores, such as Ascospores and Basidiospores have made there way into the house – perhaps the occupants were trying to move air out of the basement area.
