THE POWERBEES APPROACH TO WATER DAMAGE PowerBees will begin all water damage projects by first setting up containment. The water damaged area will be sealed off from the unaffected areas to prevent cross-contamination of any mold spores that may have already colonized on surfaces or within wet wall and ceiling cavities. Any items that were water damaged, e.g., carpeting, carpet pads, drywall, insulation and baseboard if unable to be saved, will be removed. The water damaged area is then dried out using commercial dehumidification and floor fans. HEPA Air Scrubbers are used to ensure that airborne mold spores are captured before they have a chance to spread and colonize. All surfaces are HEPA Vacuumed and wiped down with an EPA Registered antimicrobial (fungicide) to disinfect the surfaces and prevent mold. Optionally, Botanicals can be used when the occupants may have chemical sensitivities. Any framing or surfaces with visible mold will be Encapsulated with an EPA Registered Encapsulant. If the water damage is not addressed within 24 to 48 hours, then mold can begin to colonize on affected surfaces and become airborne. Air duct cleaning is also recommended to eliminate potential mold and mold spores from the air handler and ductwork.

INSURANCE BILLING PowerBees will work directly with your insurance company to ensure that your water damage claim is covered properly. PowerBees makes it simple. Once you authorize your insurance company to work directly with PowerBees, we will do most of the work to ensure the job is paid for and that you are only responsible for only your deductible. Once PowerBees receives approval from the insurance company to address the water damage or mold, PowerBees will begin the process of addressing the water damage or mold. BASEMENT FLOODING Basement Flooding is common in the Northeast. While homes in the south lie within high water tables, New England is rocky and mountainous. Our homes have had basements since the 1600 and 1700s. Those older homes have fieldstone foundations that are typically damp. Those newer homes and buildings have concrete foundations that are porous and susceptible to moisture penetration from the outside. Over time, weather wears down those foundations from the outside. Drainage systems fail (when gutters are clogged) or become disconnected. The exterior siding and trim may rot. Bulkhead doors break. All these compromises lead to flooded basements during heavy precipitation or extended snow melt after winter. When your basement is flooded, it is important for the water to be removed immediately and the water damage to be addressed. BATHROOM FLOODING AND LEAKS PowerBees has trainied technicians to One of the most common sources of water damage in homes and buildings are leaks and overflows that begin in bathrooms. There is a lot of plumbing in bathrooms ...for sinks, toilets, showers, bathtubs and jacuzzis. Over time, pipes rupture, connections to fixtures leak or toilets and bathtubs overflow. Occasionally a forgetful adolescent is to blame for the bathroom flooding after the water was left running. No matter what the cause, that water leaks through the sub-flooring and makes its way into walls and continues to travel down into the ceilings, walls and flooring below. Have you ever noticed those brown water stains on the ceiling or smelled a musty odor in the bathroom? There may be mold colonizing in the on the plywood or drywall beneath the bathroom floor. WATER DAMAGE FROM ICE DAMS If you live in New England, by now you're familiar with excessive snow and water damaged caused when there is excessive snow on your roof. Ice dams form when the heat from within the home moves upwards into the attic and heats up the roof. The heat causes the accumulated snow on the roof to melt and flow down into the eaves where it freezes and forms a dam. As more snow melts, the ice dams continue to get larger and ultimately, the melted water makes its way up under the roof shingles and then down into the attic to the wall or ceiling cavities below. As the water makes its way through the ceilings, walls and attic, mold will begin to colonize within those cavities, on the roof sheathing and within the insulation. Eventually, this will have an impact on your air quality. Water damage from ice dams is often covered by insurance in New England. Water damage from ice dams is common in rooms directly beneath the attic although the water can leak down into rooms on the floors below. Water intrusion or flooding will increase the humidity within the affected areas. If there are high levels of humidity in the air, mold will begin to colonize on water damaged surfaces. Preventing and removing mold is critical for avoiding health issues, so it is important to not wait too long before utilizing our services. PowerBees will leave dehumidifiers and special drying equipment in your home of business for structural drying and to maintain low levels of humidity. List Item 1 Floor fans are used to dry water damaged areas affected by flooding. PowerBees uses Floor Fans to dry out water damaged areas and assist with structural drying. This equipment is an important service to prevent mold from colonizing. Often, multiple floor fans are directed towards water damaged walls, floors and ceilings to facilitate drying. They can even be installed beneath carpets (see Fast Carpet Drying below).

FAST CARPET DRYING PowerBees uses special equipment and floor fans to dry carpets and area rugs if they can be saved. Carpet pads are made of natural fibers and hold moisture. The pads are frequently the source of musty odors which is an indication that mold is forming within the fibers. In most cases, mold spores can not be extracted from carpet pads. More often than not, the carpet pads should be discarded. The carpets and area rugs in some cases can be decontaminated to prevent and remove mold spores.
